RESTORING TIBERIUM WARS ORIGINAL GAME BALANCE (On Linux)

I was hoping to share my knowledge on games (among other things) so I thought maybe I could help you fellow LINUX-GAMERS out on patching COMMAND & CONQUER-3: TIBERIUM-WARS on Linux, since most guides on Modding/Patching are done assuming you are on Windows :-(

Just to inform you due to latest patch made by EA (patch-1.09) for RTS-game (AKA Real-Time-Strategy) called "Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars" modified the game balance in favour of Multiplayer & somehow due to their incompetence the single-player campaign got affected in a not-so-balanced way & it remains as such even today since they NEVER bothered to fix it.

The units are not worth what you pay them & are underpowered & the AI cheats; Don't believe me! !??

Well you'll see how much of a brick wall the Sarajevo mission is (the NOD-campaign) among others. I'm talking promoted units out of the bat & that too heroic level (i.e; max-veterancy) also the reduced money recieved from harvesting tiberium.
Pre-1.09 it was 2400 credits for a full-tank of Green-TIberium (& 4800 for Blue-Tiberium) & while, post-1.09 it became 1400 (& 2800 for the blue variety). Also, the Cranes were previously able to build Base-defences, but after the patch can only make Silos, which renders the Cranes useless

So I tried looking for proper well-organized guides to patch it & obviously I found it but the guides were mostly for windows, whereas I couldn't find proper guide or instructions for linux, so I have put together a set of instructions to restore the "ORIGINAL" game balance for my fellow GNU+Linux Gamers out there by piecing together info I found from forumns

STEPS YOU NEED TO TAKE

  1. DOWNLOAD THE MOD-FILE

    2. Visit this ModDB-Link to get the Mod-File (made by a Reddit user by the name "Pontifexludaeacus"). You are looking for a compressed file, but I'm sure you already knew that ;-)

  2. LOCATE YOUR GAME-FILES

    3. Now in case of "Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars" the location of the folder you are looking for is:-

    .steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/24790/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars

    Basically it's in a hidden-folder (denoted by dot in ".steam"). Now you may not see the "My Documents"-Folder outright (IN the "Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars"-Folder).To solve that just play a Skirmish match & SAVE. Now you'll see it appear & along with it a "Replays"-Folder inside it; IGNORE THAT.

  3. EXTRACT THE MOD-FILE

    4. NOW, create a new folder in the "My Documents"-Folder & name it "Mods".
    & THEN, simply extract the Mod-File there. (But wait we are not finished yet.)

  4. SETUP GAME IN STEAM

    5. Now in Steam, simply go to the "Properties"-Tab of the game add "-ui" to the "LAUNCH-OPTIONS" bar, basically this LAUNCHES A MENU when you start your game.

  5. EXECUTE YOUR MOD

    6. Okay so now all you need to do is click "Game Browser" in the new launch menu for the game & select the "Mods"-Tab & click the "CNC3Original" mod option & launch it
    & that's all you have to do. Now enjoy the game in it's original glory without running into any metaphorical walls :-D
